KNSG Provides Relief Support to Fire Victims in Zago Town

The Kano State Government, through the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, has provided relief support to victims of fire outbreak in Zago town, located in Danbatta Local Government Area.

The assistance of financial support totaling six million five hundred and seventy three thousand five hundred and thirty seven naira (N6,576,537.33), was distributed to 28 affected beneficiaries in order to cushion the impact of the losses they suffered from the inferno in February last year, 2025.

Speaking during the distribution, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Hajiya Amina Yusuf ‘Yargaya stated that the government under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf remains deeply concerned about the welfare of its citizens at all times, especially those affected by disasters.

She emphasized that the government will continue to provide support to communities facing such challenges in order to ensure the wellbeing and stability of the people of the state, urging the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the support.

Also speaking at the event, the Executive Secretary of the Kano State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Abdullahi Isyaku Kubarachi, explained that assessment was conducted to determine the extent of the damage caused by the fire before the relief support was provided.

He implored the people to always put off the fire after domestic usage especially in the night before going to bed, assuring that SEMA will continue to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to respond promptly to emergencies cases and support to the affected communities.

In his remarks, the Special Adviser on Humanitarian Affairs, Dr. Garba Ibrahim urged members of the public to take preventive measures to avoid fire incidents, reiterating the government’s readiness to assist victims of emergencies whenever the need arises in the state.

On his part, the Senior Special Assistant on Social Support, Muttaqa Sani Gaya reaffirmed commitment of the Kano state government to improving welfare of the people, particularly vulnerable groups and those affected by disasters.

Expressing appreciation for the gesture, the chairman of Danbatta local government area, Jamilu Abubakar Danbatta represented by Abdulkadir Muhammad, thanked governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for the support, saying that this will surely assist those affected in minimizing their lost of property.

The beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the Kano state government for the intervention and support during their difficult time.
