The Katsina State Executive Council has approved the procurement of 3,000 electric motorcycles to be distributed to teachers serving in hard-to-reach communities across the state at subsidized rates.
The State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Yusuf Sulaiman Jibia, made this known while briefing journalists on the outcome of the 5th regular meeting of the State Executive Council Jibia said the approval followed presentation of memo by the ministry at the council ..
According to him, the initiative is aimed at addressing transportation challenges faced by teachers posted to remote areas, where poor road networks and long distances often make daily commuting difficult.
He explained that the provision of the electric motorcycles will significantly improve mobility for teachers, enabling them to report to duty posts on time and perform their responsibilities more effectively.
The commissioner noted that the move is part of the state government’s broader commitment to strengthening the education sector and supporting teachers working in underserved communities.
He added that by easing transportation challenges, the initiative is expected to enhance teachers’ productivity and commitment, thereby improving the overall quality of teaching and learning in schools across Katsina State.The Commissioner Commended Governor Dikko Radda for approving Teachers training and Development Center in Katsina ,Daura and Funtua zones.
