Katsina Assembly hailed Radda Over Unveiling of 15-Year Urban Masterplans

The Chairman, House Committee on Land, Katsina State House of Assembly (KTSHA), Hon. Yahaya Nuhu Mahuta, has commended Governor Dikko Umaru Radda for unveiling the 15-Year Masterplans for Katsina, Daura and Funtua.Speaking with newsmen in Katsina,Mahuta, described the development as a bold and forward-looking step toward sustainable urban transformation in the state.
. Mahuta said the initiative reflects strategic leadership and a clear understanding of the challenges posed by rapid population growth and accelerating urbanisation across Katsina State.

Our reporter recalled that Radda recently unveiled the comprehensive 15-year masterplans as part of efforts to proactively manage the state’s projected population growth, which is expected to rise significantly by 2040.

Radda explained that without proper planning, increasing pressure on land, housing, transportation networks, water systems and other public services could result in congestion, informal settlements and environmental degradation.

Speaking on the development the House Committee Chairman, said, the masterplans will provide a structured framework to guide land use, housing expansion, commercial development, infrastructure provision, transportation systems and environmental protection, ensuring that development across the three major cities occurs in an orderly and sustainable manner.

He further applauded the Governor for signing the Katsina State Urban Planning Areas Order to give legal backing to the implementation of the plans. He described the Executive Order as a decisive instrument that empowers relevant authorities to effectively designate, regulate and manage planning areas in line with modern urban development standards.

. Mahuta assured that the Katsina State House of Assembly would continue to provide the necessary legislative support to guarantee the successful implementation of the masterplans.

He noted that the initiative would not only promote organised urban expansion but also attract investment, stimulate economic growth, generate employment opportunities and improve the quality of life of residents across Katsina State.

“The Assembly stands fully in support of this visionary initiative aimed at building resilient, inclusive and economically vibrant cities for present and future generations,” he stated.
