A High Court in Kano State, northern Nigeria, has sentenced four men to 10 years imprisonment after finding them guilty of armed robbery.
The court, presided over by Justice Adam Abdullahi, also imposed a fine of N10,000 on each of the convicts for every count.

Those convicted are Shafi’u Abubakar, Usman Suleiman, Usman Sa’idu, and Ali Isa, all residents of Rijiyar Lemo area in Kano.
They were arraigned on three counts bordering on criminal conspiracy and armed robbery, offences punishable under the Penal Code.
According to court proceedings, the incident occurred on July 22, 2024, between 3:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m., when the defendants, armed with dangerous weapons, attacked residential homes in Bankaura and Sabon Garin Doka communities in Ungogo Local Government Area.
The convicts were said to have stolen items including mobile phones, a Lifan motorcycle, and cash belonging to the victims.
The prosecution counsel, Ibrahim Garba Arif, presented two witnesses to establish the case beyond reasonable doubt. However, the defence counsel, Basira Yunus, informed the court that the defendants changed their plea from “not guilty” to “guilty.”
Following the proceedings, the court found them guilty on all three counts and sentenced them to 10 years imprisonment, along with a fine of N10,000 for each count.
The court further ruled that the sentences would run concurrently and take effect from the date of their arrest, July 22, 2024.
