Kazaure, Jigawa State — Bello Muhammad Zaki, a former spokesperson to ex-Governor Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State, has resigned from the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) and defected to the African Democratic Party (ADC).
Zaki, who hails from Unguwar Gabas Ward in Kazaure Local Government Area, announced his decision in a letter of resignation addressed to the chairman of the NNPP ward. The letter is dated January 1, 2026.
According to him, the move followed wide-ranging consultations with his family, relatives, supporters, and well-wishers. He described the defection as a carefully considered decision taken at the start of the new year.
“After much consultation with family, relatives, supporters and well-wishers, I today resign from the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) to join like minds in the African Democratic Party (ADC) as a major New Year resolution,” the letter read.
