The Acting Provost of the Federal College of Agricultural Produce Technology (FCAPT), Kano, Dr. Salisu Salisu, has commended the Federal Government, the Kano State Government, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the peaceful and well-organised conduct of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
Dr. Salisu gave the commendation while monitoring the ongoing voter registration exercise at the college, which is being facilitated by the Kano State Government’s CVR Task Force established to bring the registration process closer to residents.
He described the decision to extend the exercise to higher institutions and other public locations as a commendable initiative that has made it easier for students, staff, and members of the surrounding community to register as new voters or update their voter records without unnecessary stress.
According to him, the orderly conduct of the exercise reflects the commitment of INEC and other relevant stakeholders to ensuring that every eligible Nigerian has the opportunity to participate in the country’s democratic process.
The Acting Provost particularly praised Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, for setting up the CVR Task Force, noting that the committee has played a significant role in mobilising citizens and creating awareness about the importance of voter registration.
He also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and INEC for their collaboration in ensuring the success of the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration exercise.
Dr. Salisu urged students, members of staff, and other eligible Nigerians to take advantage of the exercise by registering or updating their voter information before the deadline set by INEC.
He stressed that obtaining a Permanent Voter Card (PVC) remains a fundamental civic responsibility and an essential step toward participating in the democratic process and shaping the country’s future through credible elections.
