Victus Impact Network (VINET) has successfully established a Savings and Loans Group (SLG) in Yelwan Kusu Community, Bauchi State, marking a significant milestone in its ongoing peacebuilding efforts under the Peace Across Expressions (PAX) Project, with support from the Nigeria Youth Futures Fund (NYFF).
The formation of the SLG recorded impressive community participation, with women and other community members turning out in large numbers to take part in discussions on group norms, shared values, and collective goals.
Observers noted that the high level of engagement and enthusiasm reflected strong community trust in the initiative and a shared commitment to improving livelihoods through collective action.
Speaking during the activity, VINET representatives described the SLG as more than a financial initiative, emphasizing its role as a tool for peace and social cohesion. By bringing women together across social and faith divides to save, plan, and support one another, the group is expected to strengthen relationships, build trust, and address key drivers of conflict such as economic vulnerability and social exclusion.
Community members welcomed the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful, particularly in fostering unity while promoting economic self-reliance.
Many participants expressed optimism that the group would not only improve household incomes but also enhance cooperation and peaceful coexistence within the community.
