Explosions were heard across Tel Aviv early on Friday after Iran launched a new wave of missiles toward Israel, authorities and witnesses said, as firefighters battled a blaze at a residential building near the country’s commercial hub.
Iran’s state broadcaster said Tehran had fired missiles “against targets in the heart of Tel Aviv,” while Israel’s military said it was attempting to intercept incoming missiles late on Thursday.

Journalists in Tel Aviv reported hearing two nearly simultaneous waves of explosions echoing across the city.
Israel’s emergency service, Magen David Adom (MDA), said its teams responded to several reported impact sites but reported no casualties.
Police said officers were handling incidents involving fallen projectiles in central Israel, adding that there was property damage but no injuries.
A projectile struck a building on the outskirts of Tel Aviv, forcing residents to evacuate, authorities said.
At another residential site near the city’s economic centre, firefighters worked to extinguish a blaze caused by falling debris after an Iranian rocket was intercepted.
Israel’s Home Front Command also issued multiple rocket alerts early on Friday for communities near the Lebanese border.
The latest exchange comes as Israel expanded its campaign against Hezbollah, the Iran-backed militant group based in Lebanon, after vowing retaliation for the killing on Saturday of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
