The Kano State Government has intensified efforts to modernise livestock production following an official visit by the Commissioner for Livestock Development, Dr. Aliyu Isah Aliyu, to leading dairy processor L&Z Integrated Farms Nigeria Limited.
The visit signals the Ministry’s renewed push to deepen collaboration with private sector players and accelerate the transition from traditional livestock systems to modern, commercially viable models.
Dr. Aliyu was received by the Managing Director, Alhaji Muhammad Damakka Abubakar, alongside senior management of the company. The Commissioner toured key facilities, including crossbred milking cow feedlots, fodder cultivation fields, and the company’s automated milk processing plant.
Speaking during the visit, Damakka praised Abba Kabir Yusuf for creating the Ministry of Livestock Development and appointing what he described as a focused and committed leadership to drive sectoral reform.
He reaffirmed the company’s readiness to partner with the government, particularly in advancing modern livestock production techniques.
Dr. Aliyu expressed satisfaction with the company’s operations, highlighting its support for local dairy farmers through training programmes, technical assistance and access to modern equipment.
The Commissioner reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening the dairy value chain, improving animal health services and promoting sustainable livestock development across Kano State.
The visit underscores the government’s broader strategy to boost dairy productivity, enhance food security and create employment opportunities within the livestock sector.
