The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Malam Madori Local Government Area office, has organized a stakeholders’ meeting as part of efforts to ensure a credible Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise across the area.
The meeting, held in Malam Madori, brought together key stakeholders to discuss strategies for the smooth conduct of the Permanent Voter Card (PVC) registration exercise and to prevent multiple registrations.
Speaking at the event, the Electoral Officer of Malam Madori Local Government Area, Kabiru Ibrahim, said the meeting was aimed at sensitizing stakeholders and community members on the importance of avoiding multiple registrations during the CVR exercise.
He explained that eligible voters who have lost or had their PVCs burnt would be required to formally report such cases and register their names for replacement, rather than engaging in multiple registrations.
Kabiru further disclosed that the INEC Malam Madori office has scheduled a rotational CVR exercise across all wards in the local government area, which will run for nine weeks beginning from 2 February 2026. According to him, the exercise will ensure that all eligible voters have adequate access to registration centres within their respective wards.
He also emphasized the need for intensive community sensitization to encourage high turnout during the exercise, while cautioning against the registration of underage persons, which he described as a violation of electoral guidelines.
Stakeholders in attendance included representatives of security agencies, the press, the National Orientation Agency (NOA), transport unions such as the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and the National Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO), traditional title holders, religious leaders, including imams and pastors, among others.
In his remarks, the District Head of Malam Madori, Dokajen Hadejia, Alhaji Muhammad Saleh Kuliya, pledged the support of traditional institutions toward the success of the exercise. He assured that community leaders would be adequately informed and mobilized to ensure wide participation and compliance with INEC guidelines.
The meeting underscored INEC’s commitment to transparency, inclusiveness, and the credibility of the electoral process in Malam Madori Local Government Area.
