Tarauni/Daurawa/Farm Centre Neighborhood Communities Development Scheme Launched In Kano

The Tarauni/Daurawa/Farm Centre and Neighborhood Communities Development Scheme, an initiative aimed at promoting the socio-economic wellbeing of the people of the area,has been formally launched.
The formal launch took place on Thursday at the National Centre for Incubation Technology, Northwest Zonal Office,Farm Centre,Kano.
The event was organized by the Kano Community Development Scheme(KCDS),a non-profit and non-political community-driven initiative.
KDCS chairman,Prof.Muhammad Tabi’u(SAN),said the programme was organized sequel to the rising societal challenges including thefts,drug abuse, kidnapping and youths unemployment in the neighborhood communities.
Prof.Tabi’u noted that Kano that is renowned for commerce, education and rich culture and traditions is now bedeviled by the afformentioned challenges and many more.
To tackle the challenges,he said, resources need to be generated through what he called “Crowd Funding” by which every resident of the neighborhood and interested individuals and organizations elsewhere could contribute money in their own ways.
He said they could contribute one-off, weekly, monthly or any other sustainable means so as to generate enough funds to address the challenges.
Prof.Tabi’u explained that the initiative became imperative as government alone cannot address the problem of insecurity and other challenges facing the communities.
He assured that every Naira collected by the Initiative will be “transparently managed.”
In his remarks, the Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammadu Sunusi II, lamented the spate of drug abuse, particularly among housewives and youths in the state capital.
Sunusi,who was represented by the District Head of Tarauni, Alhaji Bello Bayero,noted that the lingering menace was responsible for the rising cases of criminal activities including murder,thefts, phone snatching and gender-based violence.
The Emir, therefore, welcomed the launching of the initiative which if well implemented,he said, would immensely address the challenges.
